Whether you’re looking to relocate or grow your life science organization, you can count on DeKalb County to help you. That’s because sustaining a world-class life science community is a strategic priority for DeKalb County.
At the core of our efforts is a promise: We will do everything possible to help your life science organization thrive in DeKalb. Here’s how:
Dedicated project manager: Michael Starling is the senior project manager assigned full-time to the life science community. Michael has a deep understanding of the complex needs of life science companies. He knows that no two organizations or projects are the same; that each requires its own unique set of solutions to meet its needs. Michael’s track record and vast knowledge of the county and its resources make him a proven partner for both established and rising-star organizations. E-mail Michael Starling
Site location and expedited permitting: Access to optimal laboratory space is a critical issue facing life science companies. That’s why our team keeps fully apprised of all location and facility opportunities for lab space, regardless of the stage of your company’s development. They will also walk you through the permitting process required for moving into new or existing facilities.
Financing: Few issues are of greater concern to emerging life science companies than access to capital. DeKalb County has intricate knowledge of the various financing resources at the local, municipal, state and federal level. We’re also developing new financing sources for construction, expansion or renovation of buildings as well as capital investment in equipment. More about available Georgia resources
Developing tomorrow’s workforce: DeKalb’s six colleges and universities provide a steady supply of life science graduates in all fields and levels. Beyond the graduates from these campuses, we can connect you to a variety of local and state resources that can fill the gap in your workforce needs. We’re also investing in our county’s schools to strengthen math and science education for students from kindergarten through high school. DeKalb is one of just three school systems in the U.S. to officially partner with the Biotechnology International Organization (BIO) to provide teachers with new training and resources – all for the purpose of improving student achievement.
